    I'm going to stick my head up here and say that this explanation is wrong. At 2:02 you state that 'a diaphragm spring provides the force to maintain this contact'. The diaphragm spring does no such thing. Its sole function is to hold the pressure plate away from the flywheel thus allowing the clutch to disengage. The clamping force is provided by the (usually three) leaf springs on the outer edge of the cover plate between the cover plate and pressure plate.

    • @Spraiser74
      @Spraiser74 8 днів тому

      The diaphragm spring is made up of the 'fingers' at the centre of the pressure plate. With the clutch engaged they force the pressure plate onto the clutch plate, and the clutch plate onto the flywheel. With the clutch disengaged they allow the clutch plate to separate from the flywheel. multi-coil springs have a linear relationship between load and deflection, while diaphragm springs have a non-linear relationship dependent on ratios of dish height to thickness.

    Burada şu 2 bilgi eksik. Debriyaj balatasına sürekli baskı yapan baskı plakasının, şanzıman milini çevirdiği ve şanzıman milimin motor şajtından ayrı olduğunu. Yani diyaframın görevi vites değişiminde bunları birbirinden ayırması. 3. eksik bilgi olarak da tüm parçaların birlikte sürekli dönmesi. Baskı plakası o kadar kuvvetli basıyor ki motordan gelen torkta kayıp çok az okuyor. Siz düşünün baskı kuvvetini. Herkes herşeyi tam anlatamıyor işte.

      3 parça var harketli flywheel balata ve baskı plakası. Baskı plakası balataya sürekli basıyor fakat şanzıman mili balatadan alıyor gücü ona bağlı baskı plakasını diyafram geri çekince balataya artık flywheel'den güç aktarımı olmuyor. Dolayısıyla şanzıman zorlanmadan vites değiştirebilir. Hamburger gibi bir sistem var ama kafa karıştıran taraf gücün ortadaki balatadan gelmesi fakat bunu yapanın aslında baskı plakasının yaptığı basınçtan kaynaklanması. Debriyajın da aslında diyaframı yani baskı plakasını oynatması. İşte burada baskı plakasının görevi tam olarak anlaşılıyor. Ben balata ile ilgili sanıyordum.

      @katoy9976 Місяць тому

      Şunu da ekleyelim araba çok zorlandığı zaman arada baskı plakanın bastığı balata da kaçırma yapıyor. Yani aslında içeride serbest şekilde aynı zamanda. Baskı plakası ve etrafındaki tüm sistem dönmesine rağmen zorlanmada kaçırma yapabiliyor. Bu durumda kendisiyle birlikte hem baskı plakası hem de flywheel aşınıyor tabi. Kısaca burada mühendislik bir trick var.

    Nice animation, but there's still one thing I don't understand. What exactly is the element directly pressing the diaphragm spring? I see it's stationary, while the spring is rotating with the input shaft. So it looks like there's a lot of friction between these two elements, which may be problematic especially when pressing clutch pedal at high RPM (for example, switching to higher gear). Is there some mechanism to reduce this friction?

    Very clear and concise. But I'm still curious...why are there four spring built into the clutch plate? What are they for?

    • @Spraiser74
      @Spraiser74 3 місяці тому

      Excellent question. It’s about what is sometimes called clutch chatter. At idle and under load and driving , the clutch can vibrate. These springs act as dampers. A bit like shock absorbers if you like that soften the effect of the clutch vibrating and oscillating in the plane of rotation back and forth (clockwise and counter clockwise at idle) . They dampen the rotational “chatting” to reduce wear on each connected component.

    The master cylinder applies pressure to the hydraulic fluid it doesn’t push the fluid at all.

    • @Spraiser74
      @Spraiser74 4 місяці тому

      Liquids do not compress, it is movement by pushing. Pressure is for pneumatics fluid is actually pushed around mechanically. That said however you want to imagine that closed system operating is up to you. Thank you for taking the time to watch and to share your thoughts. As break fluid ages there is a risk that gas (or indeed air) can get into to pipes and this can be disastrous. You apply the pressure with your foot and leg (which have give), the servo assists (vacuum from engine) then it’s closed system from then on in (some flex in the break pedal). See drum breaks for a different approach.

    Good video, but how does excess use of clutch pedal causes the clutch plate to "burn"?

    • @Spraiser74
      @Spraiser74 6 місяців тому

      At the point of engagement (as if holding steady on an incline) there will be small but material amount of slide (like rubbing two sheets of sandpaper together) . This will cause the clutch to wear. “Riding” the clutch or holding using it as a “handbrake” drastically wears it too. If you need to hold it long, put the handbrake on. It’s the crazy netherworld of neither engaged or disengaged that causes “slide” and friction and thus deterioration in the main.

    Not sure if this question has been answered or not. Pretty good animation. The thing that puzzles me is that the teeth of the flywheel seem to go in the opposite direction that the flywheel should turn--should be the same direction as the direction of crankshaft rotation. Am I wrong? Thanks.

    • @Spraiser74
      @Spraiser74 8 місяців тому

      When friction plate worn or you “ride” the clutch . It’s why you can hold the car in an incline by balancing friction with force of gravity (I know Einstein said gravity isn’t a force but go with me here) pulling car down hill. Press the clutch more and car will roll back, release clutch and car will progress up hill. See my lectures on Gravity and friction. ….
