The heat produced by those pads against he disc is unimaginable in human skin terms!
I'm going to stick my head up here and say that this explanation is wrong. At 2:02 you state that 'a diaphragm spring provides the force to maintain this contact'. The diaphragm spring does no such thing. Its sole function is to hold the pressure plate away from the flywheel thus allowing the clutch to disengage. The clamping force is provided by the (usually three) leaf springs on the outer edge of the cover plate between the cover plate and pressure plate.
The diaphragm spring is made up of the 'fingers' at the centre of the pressure plate. With the clutch engaged they force the pressure plate onto the clutch plate, and the clutch plate onto the flywheel. With the clutch disengaged they allow the clutch plate to separate from the flywheel. multi-coil springs have a linear relationship between load and deflection, while diaphragm springs have a non-linear relationship dependent on ratios of dish height to thickness.
dog explanation useless video😡😡
Brakes turn kinetic energy into thermal energy.
Nice animation, but there's still one thing I don't understand. What exactly is the element directly pressing the diaphragm spring? I see it's stationary, while the spring is rotating with the input shaft. So it looks like there's a lot of friction between these two elements, which may be problematic especially when pressing clutch pedal at high RPM (for example, switching to higher gear). Is there some mechanism to reduce this friction?
beautiful explanation. Excellent animation.
What software do you use to simulate? Thank you, I really want to learn software to be able to do what you do, please
We used modo and adobe after effects thanks
Great! Explanation
YOU THE BEST
Very clear and concise. But I'm still curious...why are there four spring built into the clutch plate? What are they for?
Excellent question. It’s about what is sometimes called clutch chatter. At idle and under load and driving , the clutch can vibrate. These springs act as dampers. A bit like shock absorbers if you like that soften the effect of the clutch vibrating and oscillating in the plane of rotation back and forth (clockwise and counter clockwise at idle) . They dampen the rotational “chatting” to reduce wear on each connected component.
Yes very good I been such a cave man about brakes .
year ago my old toyota car have power loss issue, i told my mechanic to change clutch canvas, the problem still persist until he found out that "diaphragm spring" is weaken so when clutch pedal untouched it didn't push back properly, so my man only change the springs for cheaper cost
So I've been abusing my car shoes☠️
The master cylinder applies pressure to the hydraulic fluid it doesn’t push the fluid at all.
Liquids do not compress, it is movement by pushing. Pressure is for pneumatics fluid is actually pushed around mechanically. That said however you want to imagine that closed system operating is up to you. Thank you for taking the time to watch and to share your thoughts. As break fluid ages there is a risk that gas (or indeed air) can get into to pipes and this can be disastrous. You apply the pressure with your foot and leg (which have give), the servo assists (vacuum from engine) then it’s closed system from then on in (some flex in the break pedal). See drum breaks for a different approach.
After Audi Q4 Sline Video?
This was awesome. Thank you so much!
That was the longest 2 minutes and 43 seconds of my life
You will literally never get it back. There are helplines
excellent video. These were the visuals I was searching for.
Ru mad best vedio but english titles hide ur vedios how we can know principle please remove it soon🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I think that is the best explanation.
Amazing animation, perfect demonstration
Very nice explanation ❤ Thank you 🙏🏻
Gooosh them clutches are driving me nuts!!
Thank you for the illustration
Good video, but how does excess use of clutch pedal causes the clutch plate to "burn"?
At the point of engagement (as if holding steady on an incline) there will be small but material amount of slide (like rubbing two sheets of sandpaper together) . This will cause the clutch to wear. “Riding” the clutch or holding using it as a “handbrake” drastically wears it too. If you need to hold it long, put the handbrake on. It’s the crazy netherworld of neither engaged or disengaged that causes “slide” and friction and thus deterioration in the main.
Not sure if this question has been answered or not. Pretty good animation. The thing that puzzles me is that the teeth of the flywheel seem to go in the opposite direction that the flywheel should turn--should be the same direction as the direction of crankshaft rotation. Am I wrong? Thanks.
It’s a visual thing, a bit like watching an aircraft propeller maybe 🤔
some kind of xray would help
What have you hurt?
OMG... I love this... Alhamdulillah 🥰 I understand it now... Pray for me... I want to be an automotive engineer
Best of luck!
Tell Hindi please
Very nice 👍. Congratulations.
Me who get nothing
What
Buena Buena
The part where it shows how the clutch is pressed is too fast and technical. I had to repay that part a few times
And that’s the beauty of UA-cam I guess. Hope all is clear now.
EV will not have this problem cause servo motors can change speeds at will
I have a textbook but the parts of the system isn't complete. I'm very happy to have this video to do my presentation tomorrow
Every dog as a day
Has its day.
Very clear explanation. Thanks!
the way the clutch spawns with a slight delay from the hexagon is so cute
Learned something today. Very good animation btw.
Okay so I want to know why there is a space between completely stomping the clutch, the engagement point and what happens with slow engagement vs rapid engagement or power shifting
Wait, how about the friction or slip?
When friction plate worn or you “ride” the clutch . It’s why you can hold the car in an incline by balancing friction with force of gravity (I know Einstein said gravity isn’t a force but go with me here) pulling car down hill. Press the clutch more and car will roll back, release clutch and car will progress up hill. See my lectures on Gravity and friction. ….
heh, he said nuts
This is excellent video, do I used this video and sharing in my page on social media?
Please do!
This helped me loads thanks!
Glad it helped!
This is a good animation! make car electrical system also
It has been bugging me for ages how both pads apply an equal amount of pressure, and this video has cleared everything up... Thank you for publishing it...
Exactly, some of other videos demonstrates like disc moves sideways. But this video shows exactly how two pads actually work.
Now I understand how force applied = clutch released. Though I figured it out on my own while watching the video. But then later saw it demonstrated in the video. Maybe that could have been elaborated on.
What a shame you don't include mouse or other inputting device.
But we have them……
